Hi there,

My husband continues to come up and down (mostly down) in his depression at the moment, in spite of meds and counselling now being in place.  I know it will take time.

I was thinking a complete break from work and his home ‘duties’ would do him (and me) the world of good.  Just to get away from it all and do some work on himself.

Does anyone know of any retreats/mindfulness/wellness type of holidays that would be beneficial to someone with mental health problems?

Thanks.

That sounds like a great idea Scrappy Do.  I don’t know of any such places but I’m sure a getaway anywhere you feel like will do you both good.  It worked for me when I was very depressed.  Hope you find something and get to go soon. Will

Hi Scrappy Do, my husband took me to Egypt when I was at my worst.  Getting there was a nightmare for me but I did enjoy the holiday despite being very low.  I think a break anywhere would be good for you and of course the sun, sea and sand always helps but again just getting away from normal routine can allow negative patterns to be broken.  I hope you get something booked and to look forward to soon.  Helen

Scrappy Do did you get away?  I’ve just seen that you asked me a question and I haven’t replied.  I am so sorry.  I rarely come on the internet which shows my age!  I was lucky enough to go to OZ but I think anywhere with sun, sea and sand would have done the trick, I really do.  I do hope you and your husband and familly are doing OK.  Will

Hi Scrappy Do, a friend came back to me today about your request for retreat/holiday for mental health.  Here’s what she said and a link to an upcoming retreat:

I am working with a brilliant mindfulness meditation practionner at
the moment called Tamara Russell. www.mindbodymot.com.

Tamara works with individuals and organisations advising how to use
mindfulness techniques to optimise performance and improve physical
and mental wellbeing. She specialise in delivering mindfulness
training in the health sector, running Mindfulness workshops for
mental health workers and Myth busting Mindfulness for Medics Courses
(GPs and Psychiatrists).

Tamara is also in the process of setting up a Mindfulness Centre of
Excellence in London. Very exciting stuff! We are about to start
working together this week on the branding for this venture (my
professional background is Marketing Communications/Branding)

Anyway, attached is info on an up and coming retreat she is holding.
She is planning to run a lot more of these in the future.

She has said that if money is a problem for your contact, they can
have a word with the organiser. She thinks there are some spaces left.
Tamara is also happy to talk to the person to find out if this is
suitable - it will be pretty much mindfulness training but fairly
“light” as it were.

Let me know if you need any more info, or would like Tamara to make contact x

In which area do you live?

you must have to change the temperature of your area…
if you are living in warm areas you must go to cold areas with your husband for him to feel some change….
if you are living in cold areas you must go to warm areas with your husband for him to feel some change….
just try these and you may find some difference in his condition…!!!
