Rubin’s got 10 strategies for getting happy and offers them in October’s Real Simple magazine. I’ve got to tell you, three of her tips are right up our alley. Here they are.

Start with the basics. Get enough sleep and don’t go hungry. Science backs this up—these two factors have a big impact on happiness.
Don’t treat the blues with a “treat.” This means no candy, brownies, or otherwise junky pick-me-ups. The pleasure only lasts for a minute and then guilt sets in. No prescription for happiness, is it?

Exercise to boost energy. Exercise is one the most dependable mood-boosters, says Rubin, who admits she’s often too tired to go to the gym. Even a 10-minute walk can brighten her outlook. Might do the same for yours.
Rubin is right. Good food, good exercise, and good sleep can make us happy. For more tips for everything from kicking a bad habit to staying motivated to exercise.

Great posting. Sleep, water, exercise and healthy eating habit are keys to be happy. I started my 2011 with these key effort, and so far so good. I feel energetic and healthy and lighter. Also I remind myself each day how lucky I am with what I have in my life. Happy and positive thoughts also generate good energy.

Sharing is caring. Caring is loving. Love is all around for everyone.

Thank you, Chloe.

Hi Chloe, you are so right about not feeding the blues with a treat.  I’ve just eaten a 4 bar kit kat.  I didn’t really enjoy it but obviously didn’t determine that until I’d polished all 4 bars off and now I feel guilty!  I am definitely off to the gym tomorrow if I can bear to get out of bed while it’s still very dark!  Thank you for your amazing posts Chloe.  They are all stored in my memory banks (and a lot of them in my folders), every single one.  Thank you again.  I hope the New Year has started well for you Chloe and continues to go very well.  You so deserve it.  Best wishes, Helen
