Evening all!

I’ve had a letter today from Healthy Minds- the “counselling” service I have been using for the last month. The last I heard after I went a complained by utterly useless original (and patronising) therapist, was I was going to be put into contact with another 1-2-1 therapist (which is what I had asked for innitally). I have heard nothing. Today, I come in from work (laiden down with Xmas shopping) and I have had a letter forwarded from my doctors telling me that this therapist has discharged me from the service because of my repeated failures to respond to her telephone calls!! I’m beyond fuming because I specifically asked for her to email me (which she never did) and not to call her due to my long work hours where i’m not in a position to phone anyone. She claims she left me voice messages- I never had a missed call let alone a voicemail. So now not only have I been patronised, my requests have now been ignored and it looks as though I have been lied about.

But it’s odd- normally I’d be incredibly down about this and I’ve been feeling numb and lethargic on the sofa with Leo trying to get me out of it. Instead I feel (understandably) angry- but also calm, its ever so strange. I’ve already a very polite, but blunt letter which is going to posted come Tuesday- but I dont feel the need to throw a strop of hurl abuse at people or lose my temper. Instead I feel almost passionate to sort this out and let people know what has happened and how I have been treated.

Dear Michael, what a great attitude and you know what, you’ll probably get more out of them with your letter that portrays that attitude.  I think that says something about the progress you’ve made and are making.  Do you?  I do hope so.  Merry Christmas to you Michael.  Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and all the very best for you and your partner in 2012.  Best wishes, Helen

Hello Michael,

This what happens when people don’t understand illness. Then we are are left with Text Book people, who only know words from books. These people don’t know feelings and emotions to a persons help.
Rubbish pointless way these country is turning out.

Happy Christmas

In the Name of God Amen

Paul

Merry Christmas to you Paul.  How lovely to hear from you.  I am so pleased that you had a lovely Christmas day with your son.  Children make Christmas don’t they.
I’m so glad too that it sounds like you’re still strongly involved with the Church and that you are taking EPA.  I know that you say there are times when you go blank and feel spaced but are you feeling a difference from the omega EPAs?  I do hope so.
Thank you for your kind words about the site and the photo!  Wishing you a Happy New Year Paul and a really good 2012.  You so deserve it.  Helen

Hi all,

I’ve felt so much better since writing the letter (although I’ve yet to post it what with having no printer!) and I’m now convinced that Healthy Minds was instead making me worse. Like Paul said- they simply don’t understand my illness. I’m going to my Doctor’s next week and I’m going to be asking to be sent somewhere where I can be diagnosed. I’ve been depressed since I was 14 and I’ve never had any form of diagnosis as to what kind of depression it is. I’m determined to find the positives from my experiences with Healthy Minds- and this has spurred me on to get to the bottom of what is going within me smile happy new year all!!!

Dear Mikey, that sounds like a very positive attitude and goal to go into 2012 with.  I’ll toast that!  Happy New Year to you too Mikey.  Helen
