Happy New Year Brencoot. Your poor wife having to work on Christmas Day and your poor friend losing his relationship at this time of year. It’s nice to associate celebrated events on the calendar with nice things but they can be so tainted when something bad happens one year at those times of year. The event seems even worse than it would at other times as not only do people remember these events every year but they make us not feel like celebrating at a time of year when everyone else is and we feel we should be.
I hope that you had a good Christmas and New Year. I’m not keen on New Year and make it my yearly ritual to spend it by the sea. It took me 6 hours to achieve my goal this year but it was worth it. I took the advice from Chloe’s post not to make New Year’s resolutions and just to enjoy ‘what is’ and think about what I want and where I’d like to be, without dwelling on how and trust my gut and instinct to guide me. For the first time ever I haven’t made any resolutions and it feels quite liberating. I’ll let you know next year how it went! Wishing you a fantastic 2011 in which all your dreams come true and more. Best wishes, Helen
