This is not medical advice and this site is not a medical resource. I'm not a doctor, a therapist or a counsellor. These are one person's essays about her own life. If you are struggling, speak to your GP. In the UK, Samaritans will take a call any hour on 116 123, free. In an emergency, call 999.
write@depressioncanbefun.com. It's one address and one person reading it.
What I can do
Read what you send. Reply, usually within a couple of weeks. Say thank you, which I mean every time — people have written to me about these essays for eighteen years and it still surprises me.
What I can't do
I can't advise you, I can't tell you whether to change medication, I can't tell you whether what you're experiencing is depression, and I can't be available when things are bad at two in the morning. Not because I don't want to — because I'd do it badly, and doing it badly in this subject causes harm.
For any of that, please speak to your GP. Samaritans are on 116 123 in the UK, free, at any hour, and they are trained for exactly the conversation I'm not.
Requests I turn down
- guest posts, link exchanges and sponsorship,
- anything that involves selling something to readers,
- requests to restore the pieces I took down in 2011.
